analysis of digipack (x3)

media representations

This digipak is representing the new album from the indie pop artist Kate Nash. Kate is being represented as a innocent doll in a red dress as we can tell because of the house looking like a doll house. The front cover makes the artist look very child like. It looks very imaginary because of the over sized flowers and the trees cut into horses. Its representing her to be a person with big dreams. And that is what Kate Nash is all about success in something she loves. On the other hand the song names on the back cover are very rebellious because of the word 'shit' and 'dickhead' giving her a bad girl representation. She is allowed to be rebellious because she isn't as big as some of the stars in today's media culture. She has been signed to a smaller label who allow her to do this because her fan base isn't that big and its her own fault if she gets complaints but then again she can be seen as a role model for female teenagers in association to her songs being about boys and it may be comforting.

genre-
From the digipak you can tell the genre is indie pop because the image on the front cover has features of abstract because it doesn't look like a real house it looks like a dream land but the colours are bright like the generic conventions of pop music. Unconventionally the name of the artist and album doesn't stand out much. The main generic convention of the digipak is having the artist on the front cover so people know what she looks like.

media values and ideology
The ideology of this digipak is imagination and dreams sending values out to fans to never give up on their dreams. The album back is giving values of rebellion and teenage years because of the taboo language.
media audiences
This digipak is addressed to fans of indie pop,and of course fans of Kate Nash. I think the target audience of this digipak is an older audience of males and females because of the names of the songs been 'taboo' and this is not a good image to give of for young people. Although you could say teenagers are fans because of the rebellion in the lyrics. The SEG for the target audience is C1-E because the social groups are fans of popular music. Because Kate Nash is a independent audience i think the digipak will have a smaller audience than mainstream artists because she is not that well known despite it been a well made digipak
