analysis of digipak (x2)

media representations
The Digipak is representing the new album from the pop artist Katy Perry. The artist is being represented exactly the same as she is in her music video 'California Girls' a song from this exact album. She is being represented as female character dressed up in a variety of sweets and the clouds being candy floss, suggesting she is a innocent singer. She is represented almost doll like because of the fakeness. The CD and DVD are been made to be represented as a loly stick and a donught to continue with representation of being sweet. The house style continues throughout the digipak which makes it looks professional.  The artist is a well known mainstream pop artist so she will be included in deciding the album to give of the best representation to sell her music.
genre
From the colours on the digipak you can see it is very girly and uses soft colours. The images on the album are very revealing which suggests the genre is pop because it is all about the image in pop music. The major generic conventions in the digipak are the innocent pink colours.
The major iconographic features of the album are Katy Perry because she is featured on it three times and needs to be the main attention because it is her album.

media values and ideology
The major values of the album are selling sex in a 'fun' heavenly way because she is posing in no clothes on clouds. The album name 'teenage dream' is creating values of being free and living your teenage years.

media audiences
The digipak is addressed to music fans of pop and Katy Perry.I think the target audience is primary females because they look up to her as a role model and secondary audience males because they see her as a girlfriend figure. The age audience will be both genres up to the age of 30's. I think the SEG for the target audience is C1-E because the social groups that listen to Katy Perry are people who can afford her album and merchandise. Katy Perry is known world wide for her role in The Smurfs and her romance with Russell brand and her success in the music industry so i think the size of the audience will be world wide. As an audience member i think the text is very appealing to the younger generation because of the sweet colours which contrasts with the meaning of the songs.
